Calamities are so unpredictable that we have to bear an unexpected life. April
25th 2015, Earthquake attack, was one of the black day of our time
that made our life so miserable as a result we were forced to live a life of
dark.

I got
an opportunity to be linked with RAN (Robotics Association of Nepal) through my
friend. RAN bought a mission “Light of Hope – Nepal Earthquake Relief Program”
to make a difference in life of people on affected areas. Including me, team of
19 members was formed. We were trained by Gham Power, Nepal Based Solar Company,
on basic of solar station. Program coordinator Bikash Gurung inspired us more
by his experience and thoughts, “No one
is useless in this world who enlightens the burdens of another.” First day,
we learned about technical aspects of solar regarding its installation, maintenance
and durability. Whereas for the next day, we learned about the business aspects,
a new topic for some of us. General Director
Kishor Rimal of Gham Power discussed on different aspects of business and its
possibilities with us. After all, our mission was also to fascinate the local
entrepreneur in the solar business.

Although
the week was messy and rainy, the scheduled day for our program was clear and
calm. As notified by our project coordinator we were suppose to meet at RAN
office and departed for Nuwakot. After the four hours of wonderful journey we
reached at our destination. The moment we reached there it felt so bad by
witnessing the condition caused by earthquake. None of the single houses were
left in good condition. As per our plan we were supposed to distribute solar
stations in two locations for six VDCs. Our locations were already fixed by our
local distributor partner “Bharat Lamichhane
Smriti Pratisthan”. Representative Peoples from four VDCs (Samundradevi,
Kharanitar, Raluga and Thaprek) were already in the spot by the time we reached
there. We conducted our training program and distributed the solar stations
with portable lamp for them. We further moved towards Samundratar to distribute
solar for representatives of two VDCs (Samundratar and Betini). During our
providence of solar stations to them we felt that we were able to bring smile
on their face through our small effort.
As an
aspiring engineer, I felt this journey to be very exciting and knowledgeable. Getting
linked up with people from affected areas we took a small initiative to rebuild
a better nation.
